Starwood is letting loyal customers earn a free night for every three stays between May and July - and there's no cap on free-night awards.

To be eligible for awards through "SPG Stay Three Getaway," register by June 30 at spg.com/getawayfree. Stays between May 1 and July 31 count towards awards.

If you travel to nine different hotels around the world for business or leisure during the promo's time period, for instance, you'll earn three free nights.

It's an attractive deal, writes hotel loyalty point expert and Loyalty Traveler blogger Ric Garrido.

"Earning six nights with 18 hotel stays in the next three months is a plan I think makes economic sense for encouraging summer travel," he writes.

But if you really want to get the most value out of it, Garrido suggests booking lower-priced Starwood hotels in May - before rates rise for busier periods in June and July.

The free stays are good for use at any of Starwood's more than 200 resorts, such as St. Regis Punta Mita in Mexico (shown above) or the St. Regis Monarch Beach in Southern California. The night(s) can be redeemed - with no blackout dates - through Dec. 21, 2011.

Readers: Do you plan to take advantage of this or any other summer promos out there?
